Ghotishero Bhaji (Rantii Aakur)

Introduction
“Ghotishero” is a plant which belongs to climbers’category. This plant is usually found in hilly areas with cashew plantation in its environs. Itnormally grows duringthe first rain in the month of May. This plant grows naturally and the tribal people of Goa make a vegetable dish of this “Ghotishero” plant using its shoots. This is a seasonal vegetable preparation during in the month of May and June. It is a simple vegetable dish to make, but rich in overall medicinal value. It is also known as “Rantii Aakur” in the local Konkani language.

  • Handful of shoots of the plant “Ghotishero”
  • 10-15 jackfruit seeds
  • 4-5 green chilies finely chopped
  • 1 coconut grated
  • 3-4 glasses of water
  • Salt as per taste

    Collection: Collect the “Ghotishero Bhaji” one day before or on the day of preparation itself from the forest or hilly area. Wash thoroughly

    First crush the jackfruit seeds using a stone pestle and peel the seeds

    Put 3-4 glasses of water along with the crushed jackfruit seeds into a cooking vessel and keep it on a mud chulha for cooking

    Clean the shoot of the plant in water and chop using an “Aadoli”

    When the jackfruit seeds are cooked, then add the chopped vegetable

    Simmer for 5-10 minutestill cooked.Stir the vegetable occasionally

    Then add chopped onion and green chillies kept for another 5 minutes.Add grated coconut and salt as per taste

    Altogether, it takes about 20-30 minutes to prepare this delicious and healthy seasonal vegetable
