Kaju Ladu (Cashew laddu’s)

Introduction
‘Kaju ladu’ is a delightful Goan tribal treat that brings together the rich flavors of cashew nuts, jaggery, and desi ghee. This traditional recipe symbolizes celebration and togetherness in Goan tribal communities especially during “Ganesh Chaturthi”. This ‘kaju ladu’ is made for lord Ganesha as a prasad.

  • 2 cups of cashew nuts
  • 1 cup of grated jaggery (local jaggery)
  • ½ bowl chikkyjaggery (sticky jaggery)
  • Ghee (clarified butter) for greasing

Procedure
  • Mark As Complete

    First,roast the cashew nut on fire (traditionalmethod of roasting cashew nuts). After roasting,break the nuts with the help of a stone or coconut shell

    Mixing Ingredients:In a pan, put a desi ghee and mix the cashew nut, grated jaggery, and chikkyjaggery thoroughly

    Cooking Mixture: Heat the mixture on a low flame while continuously stirring. As the jaggery melts, the mixture will start to come together

    Forming Ladoo: Once the mixture reaches a dough-like consistency and starts leaving the sides of the pan, remove it from the flame

    Shaping:Grease your palms with ghee and take a small portion of the mixture to form round balls (Ladus). Do this while the mixture is still warm to shape the balls easily

    Cooling:Allow the Ladus to cool completely before serving
