Gonyache Satv

Introduction
It is largely consumed by the tribal communities, mainly Kulmi, Gawda and Dhangar. It is a popular sweet dish made from Gonne or Ragi is “Satv.

Additional Information
There are two type of Satv:

  1. BoiledSatv—– It is prepared for children over 3 years of age. It is believed to be very beneficial when consumed by children between 11 am and 4 pm.
  2. Without boilingSatv—-(a cooling drink made with finger millets)- It is popularly enjoyed as a cool drink. While the ingredients of the two Satv types are the same, the process is different.

  • Gonyache pit (flour) -1 handful (200 gram)
  • God (Jaggery)- ½ handful (100 gram)
  • Mit (Salt) to taste
  • Udok (Water) – 1pot

  • Mark As Complete

    Soak ragi in cold water and keep aside for 2-3 hours.

    Then grind it with the help of traditional ragdo

    Then Gonnyache pit (flour) is ready

  • Mark As Complete

    Add water to the flour and strain it to remove insoluble constituents in the flour

  • Mark As Complete

    Keep the strained water for cooking and add salt and jaggery. Stir till it thickens

  • Mark As Complete

    Satv is ready to serve
