



Introduction
‘Godshey’ is a typical traditional dish among the tribal communities of Goa. It is a simple dish where tribal people worship their respected “Rakhandar” and offer this “Godshey”to him as a sign of respect. This dish isspecially made on Wednesdays and Sundays because these two daysare called “Rakhadaracho dis” or ‘Rakhandaar’s day’ by tribal and other locals in Goa.The tribal people of Goa are always connected to nature- so their festivals and rituals correspond to nature. Their beliefs and faith are parallelly connected with tradition and customs.

Note: In this dish, salt is traditionally not used when “godshey”is prepared an offering to the “Rakhandaar”.

- 250 gram suray tandul (Parboil Rice)
- 1 Bowl godd (Grated Jaggery)
- ½ Bowl mung (Green Gram)
- 1 naal (Grated Coconut)
- 2 glass water

First take a vessel, add 3 glasses of water, and keep on mud Chulha

Then add washed “mung” in boiling water and keepfor 10-15 min.

When “mung” is boiled, add preboiled rice and keep it for another 5-8 min.

Later add grated coconut and grated jaggery
